Cossacks Pull Away from Bulldog Girls Late

The Sioux Valley Cossacks put together a rally late in third quarter to build a lead that was too much for De Smet to overcome.  The Cossacks defeated the Bulldogs 73-48 on Tuesday, January 24th.

Sioux Valley held a small two-point lead, 14-12, at the end of the first quarter.  They added two more points to the lead, 35-31, by halftime.  The Cossacks lead continued to stay around the four-to-five point lead through most of the third quarter.  Sioux Valley led 45-40 with 1:45 to play in the third, but then ended the quarter on an 11-2 run for a 56-42 advantage.  De Smet was then outscored 17-6 in the final quarter.

The Bulldogs shot 35% (18-52) overall in the game, 26% (5-19) from three-point area, and 58% (7-12) from the free-throw line.  Sioux Valley was 47% (28-59) shooting overall, 36% (12-33) on three-point attempts, and 63% (5-8) from the free-throw line.

Jada Burke had 19 points, three rebounds, and three assists.  Hazel Luethmers had eight points and six rebounds.  Emma Albrecht finished with eight points, five rebounds, three steals, and two assists.  Cori Birkel added seven points and nine rebounds.
