The De Smet Bulldog volleyball team lost their last two home matches. They hosted the Hamlin Chargers on Tuesday, October 11th and then hosted the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals on Thursday, October 13th.
The Chargers won the match on Tuesday in straight sets. Hamlin won by scores of 25-22, 25-17, and 25-11.
The Bulldogs then welcomed the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals on Thursday. The Cardinals won the match in straight sets as well.
St Mary took an early 8-3 lead in the first set. The Cardinals continued to lead by five, 12-7, but the Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run for a 14-12 lead. St Mary tied the score 15-15 and again 17-17 before going on a 5-0 of their own for a 22-17. The Cardinals took the first set 25-18.
The Bulldogs had the early lead in the second set at 3-1, but the Cardinals went on a 7-1 for an 8-4 lead. St Mary continued to grow their lead to 23-14 before winning 25-16. De Smet took an early 4-0 advantage in the third set. They continued to lead 7-3, but the Cardinals were able to tie the score 10-10. The score was tied again late at 20-20. St Mary finished the match on a 5-2 run for a 25-22 win.
