The De Smet Bulldogs took an exciting match win over the Castlewood Warriors in Castlewood on Tuesday, October 22nd. The Bulldogs won by scores of 23-25, 33-31, 25-22, and 27-25.
De Smet took an early 3-0 lead to start the match. Castlewood went on a 7-3 run for a 7-6 lead. The lead was slim for the Warriors until the Bulldogs tied the score 12-12. De Smet took a 15-13 advantage, but Castlewood went on a 6-0 run to regain the lead 19-15. The Bulldogs rallied to tie the score again 23-23, but Castlewood scored the last two points for a 25-23 win.
The Bulldogs pulled off a big comeback in the second set. Castlewood turned a 10-8 lead into a 17-9 lead. De Smet went on a 12-4 run to tie the score 21-21. The Warriors went back in front 23-21, but once again the Bulldogs rallied to tie the score 24-24. The two teams traded points back and forth all the way to a 31-31 tie. De Smet finally scored the next two points in a row for a 33-31 win.
The Bulldogs built the early lead in the third set, 14-7. Castlewood cut that lead to 19-15 and then to 23-20. De Smet stopped the rally and won 25-22. The fourth set went back and forth early. The score was tied 5-5 and 10-10. Castlewood took a two-point lead at 14-12 and continued to lead 16-14. The Bulldogs tied the score 17-17. The teams traded points to ties of 20-20, 22-22, 24-24, and 25-25. De Smet got the last two points again for a 27-25 win.
