The Dell Rapids 14U offense had a steady pace of scoring runs to lead them to a 7-5 win over Sioux Falls Christian at home on Monday, June 29th.
Oakley Wolff scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead. Sioux Falls Christian tied the game with a run in the top of the third. Maddox Amundson scored on an error, and Henry Baker drove home a run later in the inning to put Dell Rapids ahead 3-1. Chace Stroschein had a two-run hit in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 5-1. Sioux Falls Christian rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game 5-5. Hayes Olinger would put Dell Rapids back in front with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning. Dawson Bunkers added an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth for an insurance run.
Olinger had two hits and an RBI. Stroschein finished with a hit and two RBIs. Brooks Brende, Easton Davis, and Amundson all had one hit each. Bunkers had an RBI. Bunkers also pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, but just one earned, on three hits and five walks with seven strikeouts. Brende tossed 1 2/3 innings and allowed three hits and two walks.
