The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls used a big second half to help them to a 62-25 road win over the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans on Tuesday, January 27th.
Dell Rapids did get off to a fast start and built a 15-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. The two teams were fairly even throughout the second quarter, and Dell Rapids led 25-13 at halftime. The second half is where things really took off for Dell Rapids. The Quarriers nearly matched their entire first half score in the third quarter alone. They outscored the Titans 22-5 to blow the game wide open. They led 47-18 going into the final quarter.
Dell Rapids shot 44% (26-59) in the game overall, 33% (6-18) on three-point attempts, and 4-8 from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, Mt Vernon/Plankinton shot just 21% (11-53) overall, 1-10 on three-point attempts, and 2-8 from the free-throw line.
Jersie Schultz had 14 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Rorie Thoreson also had 14 points with four assists, and two steals. Elin Shoenhard had seven points and eight rebounds. Brielle Hilmoe added seven points. Claire Witte ended with six points and five rebounds. Taylor Schmidt had five points and five rebounds.
