Quarrier Girls Roll Past Madison in Season Opener

The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team hosted the Madison Bulldogs on Thursday, December 11th to open the 2025-2026 season.  The Quarriers cruised to a 69-42 win.

Dell Rapids opened the game on a 5-0 run.  Madison got on the board to make the score 5-2 with 5:45 to go in the opening quarter.  The Quarriers then went on a 14-0 run to make the score 19-2 and put them in the driver’s seat the rest of the game.  The first quarter ended with Dell Rapids leading 23-7.  The Bulldogs pulled within 13 points, 25-12, with 6:00 to play in half.  Dell Rapids was able to end the first half with a 19-point advantage, 38-19.

The Quarriers kept rolling throughout the second half.  Dell Rapids outscored Madison 14-12 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 52-31 going into the fourth quarter.  The lead hit the 30-point mark midway through the fourth quarter as the Quarriers cruised to the finish.

Two players had double-doubles on the night.  Jersi Schultz finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Elin Schoenhard added 12 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals.  Rorie Thoreson had 17 points, six steals, and five assists.  Taylor Schmidt had nine points and seven rebounds.  Claire Witte ended with eight points.

Dell Rapids shot 35% (24-68) from the field overall, 1-17 on three-point shots, and 59% (20-34) from the free-throw line.  Madison was 27% (13-48) shooting, 21% (3-14) from three-point area, and 50% (13-26) from the free-throw line.
