The Dell Rapids Quarriers, ranked #2 to start the volleyball season, cruised to a straight set home win over the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks on Tuesday, August 27th. Dell Rapids won by scores of 25-17, 25-8, and 25-15.
The Quarriers built a 10-5 lead in the opening set. The Elks got within three points, 15-12, but Dell Rapids then went on a 5-1 run to go ahead 20-13. They finished the first set with the 25-17 victory. The Quarriers dominated the second set. They started on a 10-1 run and cruised from there for the 25-8 win. Another fast start by Dell Rapids in the third set put them in front 10-3. The Elks would not get any closer than five points. Dell Rapids extended the lead to 22-13 before winning 25-15.
Madelynn Henry finished with 17 kills, three ace serves, and seven digs. Karlie Ingalls had seven kills, two ace serves, and four digs. Sophi Randall added five kills, five digs, and 34 set assists. Clara Justice tallied five ace serves. Alaina Wolff had eight digs.
