Quarrier Football Looks to Defend 11A Title

The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team is coming off an undefeated 12-0 season that concluded with a 2022 South Dakota 11A championship, the program’s sixth title since 2008 (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2022).

“Defensively we have a lot of experience back from a year ago.  We need to build on the experience we have returning and play at a high level defensively from the start.  Offensively we have experience back as well, but also have a few key holes to fill from graduation,” said head coach Jordan Huska.

Some of the offensive spots open in 2023 due to graduation are running back, tight end, offensive guard, offensive tackle, wide receiver, two line backers, and two defensive backs.  The Quarriers will be led be seniors Mason Stubbe, Jack Henry, Aiden Geraets, Kale Evans, Treyse Eastman, Ethan Kringen, Ryan McDaniel, and Sutton Williams.  Other seniors that will be looked upon to contribute are Kain Burggraff, Keaton Harvey, John Mortrude, Luke Schoolmeester, Damiyen Artz, and Jaden Wittler.  Juniors Quinn Carr and Cole Ruesink will also see significant time.

“The work ethic this group has shown throughout the off season has been great to see and be around. They want to be a great football team.  They are working hard to be a great football team and are focused on being the best football team they can be in 2023 and working towards that each day.  One of the keys is always to stay healthy throughout the season.  Aside from staying healthy, continuing to improve each day and each week is important.  We need to be playing our best football at the end of the season,” added Huska.

The Quarriers start the quest of defending their title at home against Madison on Friday, August 25th.
