A big seven-run inning in the sixth propelled Dell Rapids 14U to a 15-13 win over Madison Black on Tuesday, June 27th.
Dell Rapids opened the game with a four-run first inning, but Madison had a big five-run bottom of the first to lead 5-4. Madison added two more runs in the bottom of the second. Dell Rapids cut the lead to 7-6 with two runs in the top of the third.
Madison extended their lead, 10-6, with a three-run fourth inning. Madison continued to lead 10-6 after five innings. Dell Rapids then rallied for seven runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead 13-10. They scored two more times in the top of the seventh, making the score 15-10. Those two runs were needed as Madison rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Magnus Narigon had four hits, one a double, with six RBIs. Jackson Peppel had three hits and an RBI. Gage Bunkers had two doubles and an RBI. Hayden Hansen added a double with three RBIs. Thomas LaVoy had a hit and an RBI. Jake Heinitz also had a hit. Eli Gullickson pitched three innings and allowed seven runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Heinitz pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed three unearned runs on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts. Peppel pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and four walks and three strikeouts.
