Dell Rapids Hands Clark/Willow Lake First Loss of Season

The #2 ranked Dell Rapids Quarriers hosted the #4 Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones in a matinee match on Saturday, September 26th.  The Quarriers gave the Cyclones their first loss of the season with a straight-set win by scores of 25-10, 25-17, and 25-13.

Dell Rapids took an early 3-1 lead in the opening set.  They continued to lead 6-3 and 9-6.  The Quarriers then went on a 3-0 run to extend their lead to 12-6.  They used that momentum and pulled away throughout the rest of the set.  Dell Rapids outscored Clark/Willow 13-4 for the 25-10 win.

Clark/Willow Lake opened the second set with a 3-1 lead.  They Cyclones continued to lead 5-3 before the Quarriers tied the score 6-6.  Dell Rapids then went ahead 11-7 and eventually built a seven-point lead at 17-10 and 20-13.  Clark/Willow Lake scored three in a row to cut the lead down to four points, 20-16, but Dell Rapids finished the set on a 5-1 run for a 25-17 victory.

The Quarriers would continue their strong play and took a 6-3 lead to start the third set.  They kept rolling from there extending their lead at scores of 10-4, 14-8, and then to 19-10.  Dell Rapids cruised to the 25-13 victory for the match win.

Madelynn Henry had 21 kills, six digs, and two ace serves.  Tenley Anderson finished with 30 set assists, nine digs, and five ace serves.  Sylea Sykes had 10 kills, four digs, and two ace serves.  Alaina Wolff ended with 10 digs, seven set assists, and two ace serves.  Tenley Witzel had seven digs and four kills.  Josie Price and Jersi Schultz each had three kills.
