The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team started the 2026 season with a home match against the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks on Tuesday, August 27th. Dell Rapids took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-13.
The opening started with ties of 2-2 and 4-4. The Quarriers went on a 4-1 run to take an 8-5 lead. They continued to lead by three points at 12-9 and 16-13. From there they slowly pulled away for a 25-16 win. The Quarriers started the second set with a 4-2 lead. The Elks pulled within a point at 6-5. After Dell Rapids extended their lead to 13-10, Elkton-Lake Benton again got within a point, 14-13. The Quarriers went on a 5-1 run for a 19-14 lead and cruised to a 25-17 win. Dell Rapids carried that momentum into the third set and started with a 3-0 lead. Elkton-Lake Benton tied the score 4-4, but Dell Rapids went on a big run from there. They went ahead 14-7 on their way to the 25-13 victory to take the match.
Madelynn Henry had 20 kills, four digs, three ace serves, and two blocks. Sylea Sykes had 10 kills and eight digs. Tenley Witzel finished with nine kills and seven digs. Tenley Anderson added six kills, 10 digs, and 31 set assists. Alaina Wolff had 18 digs and 11 set assists.
