Dell Rapids Baseball Blanks Hot Springs

The Dell Rapids high school baseball team traveled to Hot Springs for a game on Wednesday, March 25th.  Dell Rapids used two big innings for a 14-0 win.

Drake Eastman put Dell Rapids on the board right away in the top of the first inning with an RBI double.  Connor Hanson followed with a two-run home run to make the score 3-0.  Gauge Bunkers added an RBI ground out, and Jake Heinitz scored on a passed ball to give Dell Rapids a 5-0 lead in the top of the first.  The score remained 5-0 until the top of the fourth inning.

Ryan Stubbe scored on a passed ball, and Thomas LaVoy scored on an error to increase the lead to 7-0.  Peppel later scored on an error.  Eastman and Hanson would also score on passed balls later in the inning.  Bunkers added an RBI single to push the lead to 11-0.  Kenny Swanson had an RBI double.  Heinitz made the score 13-0 after scoring on a passed ball, and Swanson also scored on a passed ball for a 14-0 lead.  The score would remain there as the game ended on the 10-run rule after the fifth inning.

Eli Gullickson pitched four innings and allowed just one hit and four walks with 10 strikeouts.  Bunkers pitched one inning and allowed two walks with two strikeouts.  Eastman had two hits, one a double, with two RBIs.  Hanson had a two hits, including a home run, and an RBI.  Peppel and Heinitz each had two singles and one RBI each.  Swanson had a double and an RBI.  Bunkers and Stubbe had a single and RBI each, and LaVoy had a single.
