Dell Rapids Girls Win Second in a Row

The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team won their second game in a row on Monday, December 22nd.  The Quarriers earned a 47-33 road win over the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies.

The Huskies had a slim 12-10 lead after the first quarter of play.  Dell Rapids’ defense held the Huskies to just five points in the second quarter.  That effort helped them build a 21-16 lead by halftime.  The Quarrier defense locked down Elk Point-Jefferson again in the third quarter, limiting the Huskies to just four points.  The Quarriers took advantage and built a 36-20 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Dell Rapids shot 38% (20-53) from the field overall, but just 1-18 from three-point area.  They were 35% (6-17) from the free-throw line.  Elk Point-Jefferson shot 25% (12-48) overall, 13% (2-16) form three-point area, and 64% (7-11) from the free-throw line.

Jersi Schultz had 16 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  Rorie Thoreson finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Elin Schoenhard had six points and 10 rebounds.  Taylor Schmidt also had six points with four rebounds.
