Dell Rapids Girls Rally for Entringer Classic Win

The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls rallied late in the second half for a 57-54 win over the Arlington Cardinals at the Entringer Classic in Colman on Saturday, December 20th.

Dell Rapids started the game with a 10-2 run in the first three and half minutes.  Arlington responded with a 10-0 to take a 12-10 lead with :45 left in the quarter.  The quarter ended with a 12-12 tie.  Arlington had a strong second quarter and outscored the Quarriers 17-9 in the quarter for a 29-21 halftime lead.

The Cardinals were able to push their lead to 10 points, 35-25, with 3:00 minutes to go in the third quarter.  That’s when the Quarriers started their rally.  Dell Rapids ended the quarter with an 11-3 run to pull within two points, 38-36, going into the final quarter.  Their rally continued in the fourth quarter as they took a 47-41 lead with 3:30 to play.  Dell Rapids was able to stay in front the rest of the game for the come-from-behind win.

Dell Rapids shot 39% (22-56) overall in the game, 25% (2-8) on three-point shots, and 52% (11-21) from the free-throw line.  Arlington finished the game shooting 39% (18-46) overall, 45% (9-20) from three-point area, and 50% (9-18) from the free-throw line.

Jersi Schultz, named the game’s MVP, had 16 points and 17 rebounds.  Elin Schoenhard had 17 points and six rebounds.  Rorie Thoreson also had 17 points with four steals, three assists, and two rebounds.
