The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls traveled to Milbank on Saturday, December 13th for a game against the Bulldogs. A third quarter run by Milbank was the difference in a 58-52 victory for the Bulldogs.
Dell Rapids got out to a 7-4 lead with 5:30 to play in the opening quarter. They continued to lead 14-12 with about a minute and a half to go. The first quarter ended with a 17-15 Quarrier lead. Dell Rapids led by three points, 25-22, with 6:00 to go in the first half. Milbank went on a run and took a 30-27 advantage with 3:15 remaining. Dell Rapids got within a point, 32-31, by halftime.
The Bulldogs held just a three point lead at 36-33 with 5:00 to go in the third quarter. The Quarriers, however, would only score two more points in the third quarter. Milbank would take a 43-35 lead into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 50-36 with 6:00 left in the game. Dell Rapids was able to chip the lead down to 56-48 with 1:30 on the clock, but they would run out of time to complete a comeback.
Rorie Thoreson finished with 20 points in the game. Claire Witte aand Jersi Schultz both finished in double figures with 11 points each.
