Lennox Spoils Regular Season Finale for Quarriers

The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team ended the 2025 regular season with a home game against the Lennox Orioles on Thursday, October 23rd.  The Orioles spoiled the evening with a 34-14 win.

Lennox got on the board first late in the first quarter.  With 3:07 to go, they found the end zone on a 12-yard run.  The extra point was good to give them a 7-0 lead.  The Orioles would add another score early in the second quarter.  The quarterback ran a bootleg right and scored with 10:42 remaining in the half.  Another made extra point pushed the lead to 14-0.

Things then got wild late in the second quarter.  Dell Rapids cut the lead in half, 14-7, after a one-yard quarterback sneak by Drake Eastman for a touchdown and a made extra point by Kenny Swanson with 1:49 to go.  Lennox answered right back :16 later on a 39-yard touchdown pass.  The extra point was no good, and Lennox led 20-7.  The Quarriers were able to get deep into Oriole territory and lined up for a field goal with :01 remaining.  The kick was no good, but Lennox committed a roughing the kicker penalty giving Dell Rapids one untimed down to close out the half.  Prior to the start of that play, the Orioles committed an offside penalty which gave the Quarriers the ball on the Lennox six-yard line.  Instead of going for a field goal, Dell Rapids went for the end zone, and Eastman connected with Karson Paye for a six-yard touchdown.  Swanson knocked through the extra point, and the Quarriers cut the lead to 20-14 going into halftime.

Neither offense was able to get much going in the third quarter until late.  Lennox was able to score on an 11-yard run with 1:47 left in the third.  Their two-point conversion attempt was good to push their lead to 28-14.  The Orioles put the game away in the fourth quarter.  With 8:35 to play, they scored on a 16-yard pass.  The two-point conversion was no good keeping the score 34-14.

Eastman finished 9-21 passing for 76 yards and a touchdown.  Ryan Stubbe had 12 carries for 39 yards.  Paye had five catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.

Dell Rapids finished the regular season with a 6-3 record.  They will be the #2 seed in the 11A playoffs.  The Quarriers will host Milbank in the opening round of the playoffs on Thursday, October 30th with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
