The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team hosted the undefeated Lennox Orioles on Thursday, October 2nd. The Quarriers gave Lennox their first loss of the season in four sets by scores of 25-17, 20-25, 25-9, and 25-21.
The first set started with an early 2-2 tie. Lennox took a slim 5-4 lead, but Dell Rapids tied the score 8-8. The Quarriers then went on a 5-1 run for a 13-9 lead. They were able to extend that lead to 23-16 before winning 25-17. The second set started with a 3-3 tie. Lennox grabbed a 7-5 lead and was able to extend it to 16-12. The lead grew to six points, 22-16, and the Orioles took the second set 25-20.
Dell Rapids put the hammer down in the third set. They got out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back. The Quarriers pushed the lead to 10-2 and then 14-3 before winning 25-9. The fourth set was close early. The two teams were tied 5-5 and 7-7. Del Rapids grabbed a 13-9 lead. Lennox cut the lead to 14-13. The Quarriers still led by a point at 16-15, but was able to extend their lead to 20-17. That little spurt was enough room to stay in front with no issues to a 25-21 victory.
Madelynn Henry had 22 kills, 12 digs, and nine ace serves. Sylea Sykes finished with five kills, five digs, and four ace serves. Tenley Anderson ended with 34 set assists and five digs. Alaina Wolff had 13 digs and five set assists. Peyton Hohn added seven kills, and Elin Schoenhard had three kills.
