The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team cruised to a straight-set win over the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on Tuesday, September 2nd. The Quarriers won by scores of 25-13, 25-10, and 25-15.
Dell Rapids opened the first set with a 4-1 lead. They led 6-3 before the Huskies tied the score 7-7. The Quarriers rebounded and scored the next five points for a 12-7 lead. Elk Point-Jefferson rallied to within two points, 12-10, but the Quarriers went on a 9-1 run for a 21-11 lead before winning 25-13.
That momentum carried into the second set. The Quarriers started with a 7-1 run and never looked back. Dell Rapids led 13-7 before going on an 8-1 run for a 21-8 lead. They would take the second set 25-10.
Dell Rapids only led by two points, 4-2 and 6-4, early in the third set. They pushed the lead to 13-8. The Quarriers continued to slowly extend the lead to 21-13 before winning the set, and the match, 25-15.
Josie Price had 13 kills and 11 digs. Madelynn Henry also had 13 kills, six digs, and a block. Elin Schoenhard finished with four kills and three blocks. Tenley Anderson had 28 set assists. Alaina Wolff ended with 13 digs.
