The Dell Rapids Jr Legion baseball team got back into the win column with a 15-9 victory over Garretson on Monday, July 21st.
Dell Rapids scored three times right away in the top of the first inning. Garretson responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Dell Rapids added another three-run inning in the top of the second for a 6-2 lead. Garretson got back within a run, 6-5, with their own three-run inning in the bottom of the third.
Dell Rapids maintained the lead by scoring two times in the top of the fourth to make the score 8-5. Garretson scored again, this time one run, in the bottom of the fifth. Dell Rapids was able to put the game away in the later innings. They scored three in the top of the sixth and four more in the seventh. During that time Garretson scored two in the sixth and one more in the fifth.
Jace Brende had three hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Jackson Peppel had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs. Joe Trumbauer had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Gauge Bunkers added two singles with an RBI. Caiden Borns and Knox Cuny both had two hits. Eli Gullickson had a single and two RBIs. Andrew Schoeberl and Rhett Thoreson each had a single with an RBI. Asher Carpenter also had an RBI.
