The Dell Rapids Mudcats and PBR met for the second time in the season on Sunday, July 13th. This time PBR came away with the win by a score of 9-3.
Weston Hansen put PBR on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single. PBR added four more runs in the bottom of the second inning on four straight hits, the big hit being a two-run triple by Drew Sweeter. Riley Hoffman had an RBI single in the bottom of the third to give PBR a 6-0 lead.
The Mudcats got on the board on an RBI single by Reece Arbogast int he top of the fourth inning. Chris Kropuenske would extend the PBR lead to 8-1 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Mudcats plated two runs in the top of the fifth on RBI singles by Ty Hoglund and Austin Henry to cut the lead to 8-3. Sweeter delivered another RBI hit in the bottom of the seventh to give PBR a 9-3 advantage.
Hoglund, Henry, and Arbogast all had two hits and an RBI each for the Mudcats. Sutton Williams added a double. Carter Gullickson, Jake Goble, and John Spaeth all had one hit each. Henry pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits and four walks with seven strikeouts.
Hoffman had three hits and an RBI for PBR. Sweeter finished with a triple and single and three RBIs. Kropuenske added two hits, one a home run, and two RBIs. Hansen Riley Calhoon both had two hits with an RBI. Zach Puetz finished with a single and an RBI. Tanner Solberg and Beau Behrend both had one hit each. Hoffman pitched six innings allowing three earned runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts. Sweeter pitched the final three innings and allowing just one walk with three strikeouts.
