The Dell Rapids Jr Legion baseball team picked up two more wins recently. They defeated Madison Black on Friday, July 11th and then Lennox on Monday, July 14th.
Dell Rapids, Madison Black 3
In a road game on Friday, Dell Rapids scored the game’s first seven runs. They scored two in the first, two in the third, and three in the fourth for a 7-0 lead. Madison was able to get one run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Jackson Peppel and Gauge Bunkers each had two hits and an RBI. Thomas LaVoy had a triple and an RBI. Joe Trumbauer added a double with an RBI. Caiden Borns had a single and an RBI. Jake Heinitz, Asher Carpenter, and Eli Gullickson all had a hit in the game. Jace Brende had an RBI. Trumbauer pitched five innings and allowed two hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Peppel threw two innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on a hit and walk with two strikeouts.
Dell Rapids 4, Lennox 1
Three pitchers combined to hold Lennox to just one run in a 4-1 win for Dell Rapids. Dell Rapids got a run in the bottom of the second and three more in the fourth for a 4-0 lead. Lennox finally got on the board with a run in the top of the seventh, but it was too little too late.
Rhett Thoreson pitched five innings and allowed five hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Bunkers tossed one inning. Peppel also threw one inning and allowed an unearned run on a hit and two walks. Peppel had two hits in the game. Trumbauer had a double with two RBIs. Brende added a single, and Andrew Schoeberl had an RBI.
