The Dell Rapids 14U Navy team fell to Volga White by a score of 13-7 on Wednesday, July 9th.
Volga scored four runs right away in the top of the first and then two more in the second for a 6-0 lead. Dell Rapids cut the lead down to one run, 6-5, with a big five-run bottom of the second. After a scoreless third inning, each team scored two times in the fourth inning. Volga led 8-7 after four innings of play. Volga then scored three times in the top of the fifth and two more in the sixth for the win.
AJ Brandenburg, Haiden Kaffer, and Owen Bollock all had two hits and an RBI each. Jacob Gareats finished with a double. Hayden King had a hit, and Will Price had two RBIs. Kaffer pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits and four walks with six strikeouts. Price pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing two unearned runs on four walks with five strikeouts. Bryson Schroeder pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.
