Phils Drop Back-to-Back Games

The Dell Rapids Phils dropped back-to-back games on Monday, June 30th and Tuesday, July 1st.

Colton 4, Dell Rapids 1

After Dell Rapids scored a run in the bottom of the first, they were shut down the rest of the game.  Colton tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth inning.  They went in front with a run in the top of the fifth and then added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Connor Hanson and Talan Millage had the only two hits in the game.  Tad Tjaden had an RBI.  Drake Eastman pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.  Cole Ruesink pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed an earned run on two hits.

Madison 9, Dell Rapids 6

After three scoreless innings, Madison broke the 0-0 tie with a seven-run top of the fourth inning.  Dell Rapids got two runs back in the bottom of the fourth.  Madison added another run in the fifth.  The Phils rallied for three runs in the fifth to make the score 8-5.  Each team then got a single run in the seventh inning.

Gauge Bunkers had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Eastman had two singles and an RBI.  Ruesink added a single with an RBI.  Kenny Swanson had a double.  Millage also had a single.  Connor Hanson ended with an RBI.  Lincoln Fersdahl pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs, five earned, on four hits and four walks with six strikeouts.  Ruesink pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
