The Dell Rapids 14U Navy team lost both games of a double header to Brookings White on Wednesday, July 2nd.
Brookings White 6, Dell Rapids Navy 5
Both teams put two runs on the board in the first inning of the first game. Brookings took a 3-2 lead with a run in the bottom of the second. Dell Rapids grabbed a 4-3 lead with two runs in the top of the third, but Brookings took the lead right back with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Brookings extended the lead to 6-4 with a run in the fourth. Dell Rapids got one run in the top of the sixth, but their rally fell short.
Will Price had three hits and two RBIs. Haiden Kaffer added two hits and an RBI. AJ Brandenburg had a hit. Owen Bollock and Easton Davis both had an RBI. Bollock pitched five innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts.
Brookings White 7, Dell Rapids Navy 6
The second game was back and forth. Dell Rapids scored two times in the top of the first. Brookings took a 3-2 lead with three runs in the bottom of the second. Dell Rapids tied the game with a run in the third, and then went ahead 5-3 with two runs in the top of the fourth. Brookings had another three-run inning in the bottom of the fourth to go back in front 6-5. Dell Rapids tied the game in the top of the fifth, but Brookings won the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Price had two more hits, one a double, and an RBI. Jacob Geraets and Brandenburg both had a single and an RBI. Hayden King and Bryson Schroeder each had a hit. Price pitched three innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on a hit and five walks with five strikeouts. Schroeder pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on a hit and walk.
