The Dell Rapids Mudcats and PBR did battle in the annual “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” on Friday, June 27th as part of the Quarry Days celebration, and the Mudcats took the win 4-0. Prior to the game, Bruce Mogen gave a history of Dell Rapids PBR, and Jim Wilber was honored for all of the years spent in Dell Rapids baseball.
The Mudcats broke a scoreless tie the bottom of the third when Grant Olson scored on an error. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth. C Hunt had an RBI double to make the score 2-0. Two more runs scored in the bottom of the seventh to give the Mudcats a 4-0 lead.
Hunt had a double and an RBI for the Mudcats. Nolan Burchill had a single with an RBI. Ty Hoglund, Drake Eastman, Jake Goble, Austin Henry, and Grant Olson all had one hit each. Goble pitched six innings and allowed two hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Burchill pitched three innings and allowed two hits with three strikeouts.
Trey Randel had a double for PBR. Chris Kropuenske, Beau Behrend, and Riley Calhoon all had one single each. Brett Mogen pitched eight innings and allowed four runs, two earned, on seven hits with seven strikeouts.
