The Dell Rapids high school baseball team avenged an earlier season loss to the Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery Bulldogs on Wednesday, April 30th. Dell Rapids used two three-run innings to help them to a 6-1 win.
The two teams were locked in a scoreless battle for three innings. Dell Rapids broke through with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Ryan Stubbe scored on a passed ball, and Talan Millage had a two-run single. Dell Rapids scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Tad Tjaden had an RBI double, Connor Hanson had an RBI single, and Lincoln LeBrun stole home to give Dell Rapids a 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs got their lone run with one out in the top of the seventh.
Tjaden pitched six strong innings allowing one earned run on a hit and five walks with 10 strikeouts. Lincoln Fersdahl pitched the final inning and allowed a hit while striking out one batter. Tjaden also finished with two hits, one a double, with an RBI. Ryan Brandenburg had two singles. Millage had a single with two RBIs. Hanson finished with a single and an RBI.
