Early Runs Enough for Madison Against Dell Rapids Softball

The Madison Bulldogs scored five runs in the first two innings, and they held off the Dell Rapids Quarriers 5-3 on Friday, April 25th.

The Bulldogs scored three times in the bottom of the first for an early 3-0 lead.  Dell Rapids got one run back in the top of the second, but Madison added two more in the bottom of the inning for a 5-1 score.  The score remained 5-1 until the top of the sixth inning.  The Quarriers scored two times to cut the lead to 5-3, but they were unable to get a rally going in the seventh.

Rylee Halverson had two hits, one of them a double, and an RBI.  Lexi Scherff also had two hits.  Katie Kvigne and Pagie Trewin each had a single.  Kvigne pitched six innings and allowed five runs, one earned, on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.
