A big first inning was all Dell Rapids needed as they defeated Lennox for the second time this year. Dell Rapids earned a 17-7 win at home on Sunday, April 27th.
After Lennox scored a run in the top of the first, Dell Rapids plated nine runs in the bottom of the inning for a 9-1 lead. Lennox got another run in the top of the third, but Dell Rapids responded with three more in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 12-2. Lennox had a four-run top of the fourth inning, but again the Dell Rapids offense responded and scored three times.
Neither team would score any runs in the fifth, and Dell Rapids led 15-6 going into the sixth inning. Lennox would get a run to make the score 15-6. Dell Rapids ended the game on the 10-run rule with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Jackson Peppel led the offense with three hits, two of them doubles, and five RBIs. Drake Eastman also had three hits, one a double, and four RBIs. Tad Tjaden had three singles and two RBIs. Cole Ruesink finished with two hits, including a double. Lincoln LeBrun had a single and an RBI. Connor Hanson and Lincoln Ferdahl both had one hit each.
Eastman pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed six runs, but all unearned, on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Fersdahl pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit with three strikeouts.
