Dell Rapids scored 10 of their 14 runs in the middle innings to help them to a 14-7 victory over Parkston on Thursday, April 17th.
After a scoreless first inning, Dell Rapids scored a run in the top of the second. Parkston responded with three run in the bottom of the second for a 3-1 lead. Both teams had their offenses rolling in the third inning. Dell Rapids scored six times in the top of the third, and Parkston scored three times in the bottom of the inning. Dell Rapids led 7-6 after three innings of play.
The offense for Dell Rapids continued to put up big numbers. They scored four more times in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 11-6. Dell Rapids scored another run in the sixth and two in the seventh for a 14-6 advantage. Parkston scored one more time in the bottom of the seventh.
Cole Ruesink had three hits, two of them doubles, and two RBIs. Drake Eastman had two hits, including a triple. Jackson Peppel and Cooper Frost both had a triple and three RBIs each. Connor Hanson had a single with three RBIs.
Eastman pitched three innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Tad Tjaden pitched four innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and one walk with eight strikeouts.
