The Dell Rapids Quarrier softball team suffered their first loss of the season on the road Thursday, April 11th. The West Central Trojans used a big sixth inning to take an 11-1 victory.
The game was close through the first five innings. Both teams went scoreless in the first two innings. West Central broke through with a run in the bottom of the third. They would continue to lead 1-0 until they added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 3-0 lead. Dell Rapids got a run back in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 3-1. West Central, however, exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Lexi Scherff had a double and an RBI. Paige Trewin, Rylee Halverson, Ella Johnson, and Sylea Sykes all had one hit each. Katie Kvigne pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed three walks with five strikeouts.
