Quarrier Boys Fend off Madison

The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys built a nice lead in the middle of the game and then had to fend off a Madison rally on Thursday, January 23rd.  The Quarriers were able to come home with a 43-37 win.

Dell Rapids led by just two points, 11-9, at the end of the first quarter.  The Bulldogs made the first point from the free-throw line of the second quarter and pulled within one, 11-10.  The Quarriers ended the first half with a 14-4 run for a 25-14 halftime lead.  Dell Rapids started the third quarter with a 9-4 run.  They lead 34-18 with 4:30 to play in the third quarter.  Madison was able to cut the lead to 36-29 going into the fourth quarter.  The Bulldogs continued to rally and eventually tied the game 37-37 with 2:15 to go.  Dell Rapids, however, finished the game on a 6-0 run for the win.

The Quarriers shot 34% (17-50) overall, 13% (3-23) on three-point shots, and 6-9 from the free-throw line.  Madison shot 21% (12-57) in the game overall, 19% (6-31) on three-point shots, and 7-10 from the free-throw line.

Tad Tjaden had 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals,  Lincoln Anderson finished with 13 points.  Karson Paye had 10 point, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Jack Kloth had six points, nine rebounds, and four blocked shots.
