The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team won their first road game of the young season on Thursday, August 29th. The Quarriers defeated the West Central Trojans in straight sets.
The Trojans held a small lead in the first part of the opening set. West Central led 4-2 and also 7-5. Dell Rapids tied the score 9-9 and then went on on a run from there. The Quarriers scored five straight for a 14-9 lead. They extended the lead to 18-11 before winning the opening set 25-12.
Dell Rapids started the second set with a 3-1 lead. They also led 7-4 and 11-7. West Central went on a 7-2 run and took the lead 14-13. The lead didn’t last long as Dell Rapids went back in front 17-15. They then ended the set on an 8-3 run for a 25-18 win. The Quarriers took that momentum and cruised through the third set for a 25-8 victory.
Sophi Randall finished with 25 set assists, five kills, four digs, and three blocks. Madelynn Henry added nine kills, five digs, and two ace serves. Karlie Ingalls had six kills and three ace serves. Clara Justice finished with five kills and also had three ace serves. Lauryn Kloth had three kills and three blocks. Alaina Wolff had four set assists.
