Phils Win Two of Last Three Games

The Dell Rapids Phils won two of their last three games.  They hosted Lake Norden on Friday, July 12th and then traveled to Watertown for a doubleheader on Sunday, July 14th.

Dell Rapids 7, Lake Norden 1

Early runs helped the Phils to a 7-1 win over Lake Norden on Friday.  They scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, two in the second, and three in the third for an early 7-0 lead.  They maintained the 7-0 lead until the top of the sixth.  Lake Norden would get their lone run in the sixth inning.

Lincoln Fersdahl had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Talan Millage also had two hits.  Mason Stubbe finished with a double and two RBIs.  Sutton Williams and Treyse Eastman each had a single.  Tad Tjaden and Drake Eastman both had an RBI.  D. Eastman pitched seven innings and allowed an earned run on five hits and three walks with nine strikeouts.

Dell Rapids 18, Watertown 9

The Phils belted 17 hits and built an early lead to win the first game of the doubleheader on Sunday.  Dell Rapids had a six-run first inning and then followed with three runs in the second, one in the third, and two in the top of the fourth for a 12-0 lead.  Watertown scored three times in the bottom of the fourth and another in the sixth to make the score 12-4.  Dell Rapids had another six-run inning in the top of the seventh to go ahead 18-4.  Watertown rallied for five runs in the bottom of the inning.

D. Eastman had five hits, including a double, and two RBIs.  T. Eastman added two doubles and four RBIs.  CJ Smith had two singles and three RBIs.  Cole Ruesink had two singles and two RBIs.  Stubbe had two hits as well with an RBI.  Tjaden collected two singles.  Williams had a single and an RBI, and Konrad Richeal had a hit.  Millage finished with an RBI.

Watertown 14, Dell Rapids 4

Watertown broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fourth and took the second game 14-4.  They scored first with a run in the bottom of the first and two in the second for a 3-0 lead.  Dell Rapids tied the game 3-3 with three runs in the top of the third.  Watertown regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning.  Dell Rapids cut the lead to 5-4 with a run in the top of the fifth, but Watertown scored two more runs in the fifth and then ended the game on the 10-run rule with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Williams had a single and an RBI.  Tjaden and Stubbe both finished with one single each.  T. Eastman, Smith, and Ruesink all had an RBI in the game.
