The Dell Rapids Mudcats suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday, July 9th. The Canova Gang took the win by a single run, 6-5.
Canova took an early lead with a run in the top of the second inning. They added three more runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 4-0. The Mudcats responded with three in the bottom of the inning to make the score 4-3. Canova got two more runs in the fifth. Dell Rapids added another run, and after five innings, Canova led 6-4. Ty Hoglund hit a solo home run in the top of the eight to make the score 6-5, but the Mudcats could not get the game tied.
Hoglund finished with five hits, including a home run and double with three singles, and had three RBIs. Carter Gullickson had three hits. Mark Abrahamson finished with two singles. Kris Regas added a double. Dalton Allen took the loss on the mound.
