The Dell Rapids Phils played games on back-to-back days, winning one and losing one. Dell Rapids traveled to Thompson, ND on Thursday, June 13th and then hosted Vermillion on Friday, June 14th.
Thompson ND 12, Dell Rapids 4
The Phils jumped out to a 4-0 lead right away in the top of the first inning, but the offense was held in check the rest of the game. Thompson scored one run in the bottom of the first and then had a big seven-run second inning. They added two more in the third and two runs again in the fourth.
Treyse Eastman had a double and an RBI. Talan Millage finished with a single and an RBI. Tad Tjaden and Will Zwach both had a single. Millage pitched two innings and allowed eight runs, but just one earned, on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Drake Eastman pitched three innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Konrad Richeal threw one inning allowing a hit and walk with one strikeout.
Dell Rapids 15, Vermillion 11
Dell Rapids bounced back the next day with a four-run win over Vermillion at home. The Phils scored in every offensive inning. They started the game with a five-run bottom of the first and then added one more in the bottom of the sixth for a 6-0 lead. Vermillion took the lead briefly with a seven-run top of the third. Dell Rapids, however, scored three in the third and three in the fourth to retake the lead 12-7. The Phils added another run in the fifth. After Vermillion scored four runs in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 13-11, the Phils added two more in the bottom of the sixth.
Sutton Williams had three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI. Millage had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Tajden added two hits, one a double, and an RBI. D. Eastman and Cooper Frost both had hits and an RBI each. Lincoln Fersdahl had a single and two RBIs. CJ Smith added a single and an RBI, and T. Eastman had a single. Tjaden pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed six earned runs on two hits and six walks with three strikeouts. Richeal pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed an earned run on three hits. Fersdahl pitched four innings and gave up four runs, three earned, on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
