Dell Rapids Baseball Wins Region 3B Super Regional and Qualifies for State

Dell Rapids took care of business on their home field winning two games of a Region 3B Super Regional to qualify for the state tournament on Wednesday, May 22nd.  They did not allow a run in either game.

Dell Rapids 3, McCook Central 0

The two teams got locked in a pitcher’s dual.  There were only three hits total in the game, all by Dell Rapids.  After a walk and single in the bottom of the first, Sutton Williams had an RBI sacrifice fly to give Dell Rapids a 1-0 advantage.  With two outs in the bottom of the third, Mason Stubbe drew a walk.  Treysse Eastman followed with an RBI double, and then Williams had an RBI single for a 3-0 lead.

Jack Henry was strong on the mound.  Henry threw 6 1/3 innings walking three batters while striking out 11 batters.  Konrad Richeal got the final two outs of the game for the save.  T. Eastman had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Williams had a single and two RBIs.

Dell Rapids 14, West Central 0

The offense for Dell Rapids found its groove against West Central.  Dell Rapids scored a run in the bottom of the first, five in the second, five in the third, and three in the fourth for a 14-0 lead.  The defense then held West Central scoreless in the top of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Tad Tjaden had his own strong performance on the mound in the second game.  Tjaden pitched five innings and allowed one hit and one walk with eight strikeouts.  Henry had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs.  T. Eastman had a single and two RBIs.  Tjaden finished with a double and an RBI.  Lincoln Fersdahl added a single and an RBI.  Stubbe finished with a double.  Cole Ruesink and Drake Eastman both had a single, and Williams had an RBI.
