Dell Rapids Boys Hold on for Another Win

For the second game in a row, the Dell Rapids Quarrier boys basketball team held off a rally to earn a victory.  This time the Quarriers got a road win against the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies 48-40 on Saturday, January 6th.

Dell Rapids built a 15-8 lead in the first quarter, the Huskies pulled within two points, 15-13, by the end of the quarter.  Elk Point-Jefferson tied the game 15-15 early in the second quarter, but the Quarriers had a 26-21 lead at halftime.  Dell Rapids built a nine-point lead, 36-27, in the third quarter, but the Huskies ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 36-34.  The Quarriers went on a 9-0 run over the first five minutes of the fourth quarter for a 45-34 lead.  They were able to hold for a 48-40 victory.

The Quarriers shot 40% (19-47) overall, 43% (6-14) from three-point area, and 33% (4-12) from the free-throw line.  The Huskies shot 32% (16-50) overall, just 1-12 on three-point attempts, and 70% (7-10) from the free-throw line.

Jack Henry had 23 points, five rebounds, and four steals.  Rhett Kloth added eight points, eight rebounds, four steals, and four blocked shots.  Tad Tjaden had seven points, two rebounds, and two assists.  Cole Ruesink ended with four points, four rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.
