The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team finished with a 3-1 record at the Northwestern Volleyball Tournament held in Redfield on Saturday, October 7th. Dell Rapids finished 2-0 in initial pool play and then finished 1-1 in the Gold Bracket pool.
The Quarriers opened the tournament with a straight set win over the Kimball/White Lake WiLdKats by scores of 25-20 and 25-20. Kylee Fiddelke had a team-high six kills and six digs. Lauryn Kloth had four kills and four digs. Madelynn Henry finished with four kills, four digs, and two ace serves. Sophi Randall had 17 set assists, three digs, and two blocks. Alaina Wolff added nine digs.
In the second pool play match, the Quarriers defeated the Waubay/Summit Mustangs in straight sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-7. Peyton Hohn had four kills and a block. Henry finished with three kills. Karlie Ingalls had three kills and three ace serves. Randall had 14 set assists and four ace serves. Cate Traill and Fiddelke both had three digs each. Jocelyn Amundson had three ace serves.
Dell Rapids played the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies in the first match of the Gold Bracket. The Huskies took the match in three sets by scores of 26-24, 20-25, and 27-25. Kloth finished with 11 kills and four blocks. Henry had 16 kills and nine digs. Randall had 32 set assists, 14 digs, five kills, two ace serves, and two blocks. Fiddelke added four kills and eight digs, and Wolff finished with 17 digs.
The Quarriers finished the tournament with a win over the Platte-Geddes Black Panthers by set scores of 25-25, 25-12, and 25-17. Henry had eight kills. Kloth added seven kills, three ace serves, and two blocks. Clara Justice had five kills. Randall finished with 25 set assists, eight digs, five kills, and two blocks. Fiddelke had five kills and five ace serves. Wolff had 12 digs and four set assists.
Randall and Henry were named to the All-Tournament team.
