The Dell Rapids Phils got 10 early runs on their way to a 12-9 win over Yankton on Tuesday, June 27th. This win was the 14th straight victory for the Phils.
Dell Rapids got a single run in the top of the first inning, four in the second, and one more in the third for a 6-0 lead. Yankton picked up a run in the bottom of the third. Dell Rapids, however, got four more in the top of the fourth and another in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 11-1. Yankton got two runs in the bottom of fifth to avoid the 10-run rule. They then rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 11-9. Dell Rapids got an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Brayden Pankonen had three hits in the game. Jack Henry had two hits, one a triple, and two RBIs. Sutton Williams had a single and two RBIs. Aiden Boechler, Treyse Eastman, and Will Jaton all had one hit and one RBI each. Drake Eastman and Konrad Richeal both had one hit. CJ Smith and Joe Rechtenbaugh each added an RBI.
Henry pitched five innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on two hits and six walks with six strikeouts. Smith pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run on a hit with a strikeout. Boechler pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed five earned runs on two hits and three walks with one strikeout.
