The Dell Rapids Phils won the Humboldt Legion Tournament held Friday, June 23rd through Sunday, June 25th. Dell Rapids won all four of their games and extended their winning streak to 12 games.
Dell Rapids 10, Volga 0
The offense for Dell Rapids scored three runs in the bottom of the first, five in the second, and two in the third on their way to a 10-0 win. They held Volga to just two hits in the game.
CJ Smith had three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Brayden Pankonen had three singles. Aiden Boechler finished with two hit, one a double, and an RBI. Jack Henry had a double and two RBIs. Joe Rechtenbaugh had a single and two RBIs. Mason Stubbe had a hit, and Drake Eastman had an RBI. Konrad Richeal pitched all five innings allowing two hits and three walks with six strikeouts.
Dell Rapids 4, Alexandria 4
Alexandria and Dell Rapids were locked in a scoreless battle for five innings. Dell Rapids put together a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth for the win. Stubbe had a two-run single, and Will Jaton’s sacrifice fly brought home two runs.
Henry finished with two hits, one a double. Smith also had two hits. Stubbe had a hit and two RBIs. Boechler and D. Eastman each had a hit. Jaton finished with two RBIs. Jaton pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed three hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. Pankonen pitched 1 2/3 innings recording a strikeout.
Dell Rapids 3, Alexandria 1
Meeting Alexandria for a second time in the tournament, Dell Rapids scored three times in the first three innings and held Alexandria to just one run and one hit to advance to the championship game. Dell Rapids scored two runs in the second and one run in the third. Alexandria got one run in the sixth.
Boechler finished with two hits. Pankonen had a double and an RBI. Henry and Stubbe both had a hit. Treyse Eastman added an RBI. T. Eastman pitched five innings without allowing a hit with three walks and seven strikeouts. Rechtenbaugh pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed an earned run on two walks and two strikeouts. Pankonen pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed one hit.
Dell Rapids 8, Tabor 4
Dell Rapids broke a 2-2 tie with four straight runs in the middle innings on their way to an 8-4 win over Tabor in the championship game. Pankonen and Smith both scored on an error in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead. Tabor tied the game with two runs in the top of the second.
Dell Rapids broke the tie with a three-run third. Rechtenbaugh had a two-run single, and Stubbe had an RBI single to go ahead 5-2. Henry had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead to 6-2. Each team then had two runs in the sixth inning.
Henry had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Rechtenbaugh had two hits and two RBIs. Stubbe finished with two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Pankonen and Smith each had two singles. D. Eastman pitched four innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Rechtenbaugh pitched one inning and allowed two runs, one earned, on six walks. Henry pitched one inning walking two and striking out two. Pankonen pitched one inning walking one and striking out one.
