Dell Rapids 14U Splits Two Home Games

Dell Rapids 14U split a pair of home games on consecutive nights.  On Tuesday, June 13th, Parker defeated Dell Rapids, but Dell Rapids rebounded with a win over West Central Gold on Wednesday, June 14th.

Parker 5, Dell Rapids 4

Parker took an early lead with two runs in the top of the first and then came from behind to complete the 5-4 win.  Dell Rapids scored three times in the bottom of the first to lead 3-2.  They added another run in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 4-2.  Parker tied the game with two runs in the top of the fourth.  Parker then took the lead in the top of the sixth with a run.

Gage Bunkers had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Hayden Hansen had a hit and two RBIs.  Luke Symens finished with a hit and an RBI.  Thomas Lavoy had two hits, and Andrew Schoeberl added a single.  Eli Gullickson pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts.  Bunkers pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts.  Jake Heinitz pitched one inning and had one strikeout.

Dell Rapids 14, West Central Gold 4

Dell Rapids used a pair of seven-run innings to get the win over West Central Gold.  They scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning, and then didn’t score again until the bottom of the fifth.  West Central, throughout the rest of the game cut into the lead.  West Central scored three runs in the top of the fourth and one in the fifth to make the score 7-4.  Dell Rapids ended the game on the 10-run rule with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Heinitz had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.  Lavoy had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Lucas Peppel had two hits and an RBI.  Symens added a double and three RBIs.  Schoeberl and Magnus Narigon each had a single and an RBI.  Dawson Bunkers also had an RBI.  G. Bunkers pitched three innings and allowed just one hit while striking out six batters.  Heinitz pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing four runs, one earned, on three hits and five walks with two strikeouts.  Symens pitched 2/3 of an inning.
