The Dell Rapids 16U baseball team hosted Elkton in a double-header on Monday, June 12th and won both games easily. They took the first game 10-0 and then the second game 11-1.
Dell Rapids 10, Elkton 0
The pitching staff for Dell Rapids held Elkton to just two hits in the game while the offense scored in every inning but one. Dell Rapids scored two runs in the first inning, four in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the sixth.
Brandon Schmidt had three hits and an RBI. Tad Tjaden had two hits, including a double, and two hits. Lincoln Fersdahl had a triple and three RBIs. Talan Millage added a double and two RBIs. Matt Nelson had a double and an RBI. Logan Lafortune finished with a hit and an RBI. Cole Ruesink and Connor Hanson both had a single. Fersdahl pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing two hits and five walks with 10 strikeouts. Ruesink pitched the final 1/3 of an inning.
Dell Rapids 11, Elkton 1
Dell Rapids put six runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning and cruised from there. They had three more runs in the bottom of the second, one in the third, and one more in the fourth. Elkton scored their lone run in the top of the fourth.
Kenneth Swanson had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs. Cooper Frost had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Millage had a hit and three RBIs. Logan Donovan finished with a single and an RBI. Ruesink, Tjaden, and Grady Lamer all had one hit each. Millage pitched four innings allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
