The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals fell to the Canistota Hawks on Friday, January 27th, by a score of 71-35 at Dell Rapids St Mary High School. Canistota led from start to finish in the game, but only led by four points at the end of the first quarter at 20-16. The Hawks, however, outscored St Mary 21-8 in the second quarter for a 41-24 halftime lead. Canistota also outscored the Cardinals 30-11 in the second half.
St Mary finished the game shooting 29% (12-41) from the field, 19% (3-16) from three point-area, and 67% (8-12) from the free-throw line. The Cardinals had 24 team rebounds, and turned the ball over 23 times.
Two players finished in double figures for St Mary. Luke Brown finished with 11 points along with two rebounds and two steals. Connor Libis added 10 points and three rebounds. Jason Cook and Logan Gaspar both had four points in the game.
St Mary (7-7) will travel to Arlington on Thursday, February 2nd, to play the Cardinals. The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
