The Bridgewater-Emery Huskies picked up a 72-27 win in their first game of the season against the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals on Monday, December 14th, in boys basketball action at Dell Rapids St Mary High School. It was the first loss for the Cardinals for the season.
The Huskies led the game from start to finish. Bridgewater-Emery led 19-9 after the first quarter, 44-14 at halftime, and 63-22 at the end of the third quarter.
St Mary shot just 22.o% (11-50) from the field in the game, 13.3% (2-15) from three-point area, and 75.0% (3-4) from the free-throw line. The Cardinals had a total of 31 team rebounds, 11 assists, but turned the ball over 27 times.
Noah Fiegen led St Mary on the night with 14 points and seven rebounds. Zach Geraets added four points. Garret Frost, Luke Brown, and Connor Libis each had three points apiece. Brown led the team in assists with three.
The Cardinals (1-1) will host Centerville on Tuesday, December 15th, as part of a girls-boys double-header. The games can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
