Watchdog Boys Win Eighth Straight Game

The Beresford Watchdog boys worn their eighth straight game after a 64-56 win over the Irene-Wakonda Eagles at home on Tuesday, January 28th.

The Eagles held a 12-6 lead with 4:00 to play in the first quarter.  The Watchdogs cut the lead in half by the end of the first quarter, 18-15.  Beresford went on an 8-3 run to start the second quarter and led 23-21 with 4:30 left in the half.  They finished the second quarter with a 30-29 lead.

Irene-Wakonda scored the first three points of the third quarter to go back in front 32-30.  The Eagles extended the lead to 40-33 with 3:45 left in the quarter.  Beresford went on a 15-2 run the rest of the quarter for a 48-42 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The Watchdogs were able to maintain their lead throughout the fourth quarter in the win.

Malachi James finished with 27 points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Cooper Nelson had 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Tiegen Nyhaug added 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
