The Sioux Valley Cossacks turned a 10-point lead into a 26-point win over the Beresford Watchdogs on Thursday, January 30th. Sioux Valley defeated the Watchdogs 65-39.
Beresford held a 6-5 lead with 4:30 to go in the opening quarter. Sioux Valley finished the quarter on an 11-2 run for a 16-8 lead. The Watchdogs cut the lead to three points, 19-16, with 3:45 left in the second. Again Sioux Valley went on a run and pushed the lead to 28-19 by halftime.
The Watchdogs stayed within eight points through most of the third quarter. They trailed 30-22 with 6:45 to play and then 40-32 with 1:45 left in the quarter. The Cossacks finished the third quarter leading by 10, 43-33. Over the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, Sioux Valley outscored Beresford 7-2 to extend the lead to 50-35 with 6:00 left. They would outscore the Watchdogs 15-4 the rest of the quarter.
Ella Merriman and Lily Sievert both finished with 15 points in the game to lead the Watchdogs.
