Winning Streak Reaches Five for Watchdog Boys

The Beresford Watchdog boys basketball team ran their winning streak to five after a 70-59 victory over the West Sioux, IA Falcons on Thursday, January 16th.

The first half was played close in both quarters.  Beresford held the lead at the end of each of the first two quarters, but the lead was small.  The Watchdogs led 15-14 at the end of the first quarter and then 37-35 at halftime.  Beresford still led by two points, 46-44, with 2:15 to play in the third quarter.  That’s when they went on a run.  The Watchdogs ended the third quarter with the last five points to increase the lead to 51-44.  They then scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to lead 58-44 with 6:15 to play.  Beresford’s offense continued to roll as they extended their lead to a game-high 19 points, 66-47, with 3:00 left in the game.

Three players finished in double figures.  Cooper Nelson had 21 points and eight rebounds.  Malachi James finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Aidan Hamm also had 15 points with four rebounds and four steals.  Tiegen Nyhaug had nine points, nine rebounds, and three steals.  Ashton Oberle ended with four points, four rebounds, and four assists.
