Huskies Pull Away from Beresford Girls Late in Second Half

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies were able to pull away from the Beresford Watchdogs late in the second half for a 67-55 win in Beresford on Friday, February 9th.

The two teams traded leads in the opening quarter, and the Huskies held a one-point lead, 19-18, at the end of the first quarter.  Elk Point-Jefferson extended that lead in the second quarter and led 34-26 at halftime.  The Watchdogs pulled within four points a couple of times in the third quarter.  Beresford trailed 43-39 with 3:30 remaining in the third.  That’s when Elk Point-Jefferson started to pull away.  They finished the quarter on a 9-3 run for a 52-42 going into the fourth quarter.  The Huskies led by as many as 17 points, 63-46, with 2:00 to go in the game.

Ella Merriman had 35 points, four rebounds, and five steals.  Harley Koth finished with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Lily Seivert added five points, three rebounds, and two assists.  KEndra Ellis had three points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
