The Beresford Watchdog boys held off the Scotland Highlanders at the Irene-Wakonda Classic on Saturday, January 27th. The Watchdogs got the win in overtime 43-37.
Both offenses struggled in the opening quarter. The Watchdogs held a 7-6 lead after the first quarter. Beresford extended their lead to 22-15 by halftime. They were able to maintain their five-point lead in the third quarter and led 34-29 going into the fourth quarter. The Highlanders held Beresford scoreless in the fourth quarter and tied the game in the closing seconds, 34-34, to force overtime. In the overtime period, Beresford was able to outscore Scotland 9-3 to take the victory.
Andrew Atwood had 12 points and 15 rebounds. Cooper Nelson added 10 points and seven rebounds. Seth James also had 10 points and seven rebounds. Jon DeLay had five points and four rebounds. Aidan Hamm ended with four points, three rebounds, and two steals.
