Canton Ends Watchdog Girls Season in Regions

The Canton C-Hawks ended the Beresford Watchdogs (8-13) season in the Region 4A tournament on Tuesday, February 21st.  The C-Hawks advanced in the tournament with a 60-43 win.

Beresford started the game on an 8-0 over the first six minutes.  Canton, however, came back and tied the game in the final two minutes of the quarter.  The game was tied 10-10 at the end of the first quarter.  Canton then took the lead in the second quarter and led 33-24 at halftime.

The Watchdogs cut into the lead in the third quarter and trailed 41-33 going into the fourth quarter.  The fourth quarter was not kind to the Watchdogs.  Most everything they shot just wouldn’t fall through the hoop while Canton seemed to not miss.  The C-Hawks outscored Beresford 19-10 in the final quarter.

Beresford shot 20% (12-60) overall in the game, just 1-18 on three-point attempts, and 64% (18-28) from the free-throw line.  Canton shot 42% (21-50) overall, 38% (5-13) from three-point area, and 57% (13-23) from the free-throw line.

Savanna Beesen had 16 points and eight rebounds.  Ella Merriman had 11 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Harley Koth and Autumn Namminga both had points each.  Macy Quartier added three points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Irelyn Fickbohm had two points, three rebounds, and seven steals.  Kendra Ellis had two points and two rebounds.
